Independent Living Funds

What is it?

The Independent Living Fund (ILF) provides financial support to disabled people allowing the choice to live inclusive and independent lives in their communities rather than residential care.

Who might be eligible?

Residents in the UK. Those over 16 and under 65 when their application is received. Those who already get social services support worth at least £320 a week or £16,640 a year - this can include direct payments or services from your local council, like going to a day centre. Those who get or are entitled to the higher rate care component of Disability Living Allowance. Those who have less than £23,000 in savings or capital - this includes any money their partner has, if they have a partner.

How much can it pay?

The amount you get is based on the cost of the care you need, worked out on an hourly or weekly basis.
The maximum available payment is £455 per week. Your savings, income and certain other benefits and expenses also affect how much you get.
