We are delighted to say that all our clients who need care and support to stay at home now have their care workers confirmed for the festivities.
Of course some people are cared for by their own families over Christmas but many, who live further afield, have more substantial care needs or simply consider their care worker like an extended family member, retain our service over Christmas.
We usually say a temporary goodbye to our clients at university who usually go home for the holidays and we look forward to welcoming them back in mid-January. For some people Christmas is the time they particularly need us as their families take holidays so we provide short term, respite services so they are not alone.
And what of our care workers? Well many of them continue with their clients and regardless of whether they celebrate christmas or not provide the care and support to ensure clients spend the time as they like with the peace of mind that someone is always with them if they need anything. We try to reduce any changeovers of staff at this time to a minimum so that the weather, public transport etc does not interrupt our ervice. It is not unusual for our staff to arrive at their christmas placements, particularly in rural areas, and simply be snowed in until the New Year - they always arrive prepared!Of course, some of our care worker go home to their own families in the UK or abroad.
We wish all our clients and staff a peaceful, happy Christmas time and look forward to welcoming new and returning clients in the New Year.
