The Live-in Care Service provides Personal Assistants to young people, with a wide range of dependency levels and needs, in their own homes or whilst away from home in full-time education.
Personal assistance provided to younger people is tailored to your needs and more often includes support with socialising, studying and playing sport. Again we support high levels of dependency and where required work closely with health and social care partners.
Case Examples:

J is a young man who was in a road traffic accident some years ago, which left him with cognitive difficulties. Although he can mobilise independently he requires support and prompting to complete daily tasks such as dressing and meal preparation. He sometimes needs help at night, mainly for reassurance. His Live-in Care worker enables him to live alone. He goes to day centre most days to receive additional support from social care professionals, whilst his care worker also helps him enjoy an active social life.

P is a young woman with a brain injury who needs support to enable her to live independently after many years being cared for in hospitals or residential homes. Live-in Care has meant that she is able to pursue hobbies and opportunities such as going to the gym, further education and an active social life. Her care worker assists her with washing, dressing, managing her medication and organising appointments with health care professionals.

B was left with severe physical disabilities following a road traffic accident. He uses a wheelchair and needs assistance with use of a hoist in all transfers, with continence needs and all personal care. He also experiences depressive episodes which require his Live-in Care worker to support him and call in appropriate professional assistance when necessary. His medication and pressure care routine requires significant input from the care worker, as well as health care professionals.
